Counseling Services

At Amani, I use an integrated approach to counseling that is solution focused, strengths based, and dependent upon building a compassionate and collaborative rapport with clients. I specialize in helping all family members, especially children; navigate the divorce process, and in assisting people of all ages to heal from life's pain and trauma. I use Equine Assisted Therapy, Brainspotting, and conventional Talk Therapy separately and combined to meet each individual clients needs.

Trauma may be caused by a single event, or by the accumulation of multiple "little" traumas experienced throughout one's life. It is my belief that trauma is often the root cause of our emotional pain including anxiety, depression, grief, and relationship issues. Any life event which causes significant physical and /or emotional distress, in which the person feels significantly overwhelmed, helpless, or trapped, can become a traumatic event. For example trauma can be caused by divorce, abandonment, natural disaster, accidents, work place conditions, war, civil conflict, emotional, sexual and physical abuse, bullying, and much more. Trauma can have physical as well as emotional manifestations.

I bring a rich multicultural perspective to my counseling practice and love working with people from all over the world. I believe it is important to incorporate spirituality into the counseling process and am honored to work with people of all different faiths and religions.
